So… This thread will be dedicated to my reviews, mainly for the DS plateform and Gamecube console. (The ones I own…)
Alright.
Okay. The first game I'm going to look at is the classic Mario Kart DS.
To start off, you might think that Mario Kart is just, well… Mario Kart. And seriously, the DS? How bad can it get? Well, You're off by a large margin. Mario Kart DS hit the stores and became a popular grab among our Mario Karters as it was the best Mario Kart game to date (in my opinion). Compared to Mario Kart Wii, the DS version completely wiped the floor with it, although the Wii does include bikes and Wii-remote motion features. MKDS had something that no other Mario Kart game has ever had. The speed. Running the game can be one of the smoothest 3-D DS games that you'll have ever played. Even on multiplayer, for example. The multiplayer features up to 8 people playing at once… Now that's what I call competitive racers! Multiplayer also expands it's reach over on the international side, boasting in a great wi-fi racing experience. Best of all, IT DOESN'T LAG! (Note: This is mainly being compared to Mario Kart Wii.) Soundwise, I'm going to have to say it's lacking a bit, even though when you throw it on surround sound with noise-reduction earphones, it does create a better MKDS atmosphere. Anyways, moving on. Gameplay… Gameplay… Gameplay… Mario Kart DS is fun, but once you beat it, the game gets extremely repetitive. Even after you beat the first 2 speed levels, 50cc and 100cc. You'll get bored… Quite fast. I'd say Mario Kart isn't for the long-run games, but if you're looking for a quick time-killer, MKDS is my choice.
My ratings: (Out of 10)
