Okay. To create some conversation and controversy on LOLwiki, I've created this thread, Pirates VS. Ninjas. This argument has been going on for a long time, so I'd like to see everyone's opinion on which side is better. Here's a little start-up to fuel up the debate:

Pirates get booty. (MONAYYY!!!)

Pirates get to go "YARRRRR!" or "ARRRRRR, MATEY!".

Ninjas get to go stealth on people.

Ninajs get nunchuks. (Can't diss those.)

Ready people? Let's start this thing!

Okay.. LOLWIKI in my opinion has potential of being a very interesting website BUT… it needs more people to make the forums seem alive. LOLWIKI would be 100X better with only 10 more active members. So…. my solution… go ask your friends to join! if you dont know 10 people then you should go out and work on that but for the rest of us work on getting those friends on to lolwiki. Start a chain letter on ure email. Right LOLWIKI the heart and soul of LOLing on a pencil, pen or eraser and then throw it at someone (don't forget to include the address of lolwiki) special thanks to XironmanX for that last one. Im out of ideas so you come up with your own and post them here for others. Get out there and make LOLWIKI a great E-hangout

Woah! I haven't posted in a while but it looks like I'm not alone. I just wanted to comment on Tim's review of the Nintendo Wii. Although I agree with a lot of the things he said, I certainly have my own opinions. First off, I am not a blind Nintendo fanboy attempting to defend the console. Quite to the contrary, the Wii is my second least favorite of the current home consoles and portables.

XIronManX stated in his review that, "the Wii lacks in GRAPHICS. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess was a great game and is recommended, but it lacks GRAPHICS." Now, I would argue that the Wii does not really need graphics. Nintendo's target demographic is those who enjoy casual gaming. I myself, despite being more of a hardcore gamer find some enjoyment in casual gaming. What I mean by this phrase is someone who can pick up a game, get enjoyment out of it, and say "That was fun!" after playing it, without having any immediate desire to play the game again. Such games do not necessarily need graphics and instead revolve around novelty ideas that as long as they aren't outright gimmicky, provide a fun experience as long as you don't overplay the game.

Such novelty driven titles include those with well implemented motion controls (not just "waggle"-fests like twilight princess, but rather games like the first Wii Sports), platformers, as they are a dying genre and no longer found in quality on non-Nintendo consoles (try Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, and Wario Land: Shake It).

I must also point out the quality in the games available for purchase in the online store. Although this is similar to the Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network Store on there respective consoles, where Nintendo's download service really shines is their extensive selection of Nintendo back-catalog (try Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Star Fox 64, and several other excellent titles).

Well, that was kind of long to write so I hope someone actually bothers to read all of it. Anyway, please discuss.

Okay, so I'm starting this section in the wake of xIronManx getting mad at me for posting on his game review thread. The entire point of this thread is to show him how cool I am, and make him wish that he could be as 1337(0r3 as I am.

Anyway, the first album that I am going to review is Viva la Vida by Coldplay.

Album: Viva la Vida
Artist: Coldplay
Year of Release: 2008
Genre: Alternative Rock

First off, Viva la Vida is very different than any of Coldplay's earlier work, or any other current mainstream bands for that matter. That is perhaps the most attractive quality of this piece. It is extremely varied and very original. There are tracks for happy sunny days, there are eerie tracks, there are artistic tracks, there are tracks for when you're in a sad mood. Really this album has everything you might want, with the exception of heavy riffs. That being said, this album is more guitar driven than any of their previous work, especially the popular single Violet Hill, which features a lot of distortion. However, as nice of an edition as this is, it is obviously no where near enough to please hard rockers and metal purists.

The album also has excellent instrumentation, featuring intriguing parts that span instruments, such as guitar, bass, drums, piano, strings, and even organ. Some of the parts however, I must complain, are overly simple and get boring fast. Fortunately, the album changes paces so quickly that these parts are over fast.

As for vocals, I am very impressed at Coldplay's maturation on this record, especially compared to the sometimes annoying whiny vocals on their last release, X&Y. This album has less falsetto (except where appropriate) and more mid to low range baritone stuff.

All being said, Viva la Vida is not for fans of heavy music, but great for general music enthusiasts and it is one of my favorite albums so far of 2008.

"Must Hear" Songs
Cemeteries of London
Lost!
Viva la Vida
Violet Hill
Strawberry Swing
Death and All of His Friends

Guitar: 10
Bass: 10
Drums: 6
Keyboard: 7
Vocals: 10
Originality: 10
Accessibility: 9 (may be lost on those who only appreciate heavy music)

Overall: 8.9

Next time, I will review one of my all time favorite albums, Underoath's "Define the Great Line". This will be followed shortly by a review of their brand new CD "Lost in the Sound of Separation" and a comparison between the two albums, to see if the new one lives up to DTGL.

So… This thread will be dedicated to my reviews, mainly for the DS plateform and Gamecube console. (The ones I own…)

Alright.

Okay. The first game I'm going to look at is the classic Mario Kart DS.

To start off, you might think that Mario Kart is just, well… Mario Kart. And seriously, the DS? How bad can it get? Well, You're off by a large margin. Mario Kart DS hit the stores and became a popular grab among our Mario Karters as it was the best Mario Kart game to date (in my opinion). Compared to Mario Kart Wii, the DS version completely wiped the floor with it, although the Wii does include bikes and Wii-remote motion features. MKDS had something that no other Mario Kart game has ever had. The speed. Running the game can be one of the smoothest 3-D DS games that you'll have ever played. Even on multiplayer, for example. The multiplayer features up to 8 people playing at once… Now that's what I call competitive racers! Multiplayer also expands it's reach over on the international side, boasting in a great wi-fi racing experience. Best of all, IT DOESN'T LAG! (Note: This is mainly being compared to Mario Kart Wii.) Soundwise, I'm going to have to say it's lacking a bit, even though when you throw it on surround sound with noise-reduction earphones, it does create a better MKDS atmosphere. Anyways, moving on. Gameplay… Gameplay… Gameplay… Mario Kart DS is fun, but once you beat it, the game gets extremely repetitive. Even after you beat the first 2 speed levels, 50cc and 100cc. You'll get bored… Quite fast. I'd say Mario Kart isn't for the long-run games, but if you're looking for a quick time-killer, MKDS is my choice.

My ratings: (Out of 10)

Graphics: 7.0
Sound: 6.0
Gameplay: 8.0

Mario Kart DS: 7.0

Logo will be fixed shortly.
